What is a Transmitter?
A Transmitter is the person or company who is filing the quarterly reports or paying the payments online. If you own or work for the company you are filing for, then the transmitter and employer are the same. If you are an accounting firm who has numerous clients, then you are the transmitter and your clients are the employers.
Do I have to have Quickbooks or Excel to use this program?
You do not have to have Quickbooks or Microsoft Excel to use this
program. We offer screens where employee wage information can be
typed manually into the system. If you choose to use the upload function,
we do require the use of Microsoft Excel.
Can I make Withholding Payments through WOW?
This program is only used to file Unemployment Insurance
taxes, wages and payments. If you would like to file
Withholding online, please call 406-444-6900.
Do I have to send in my UI5-E report if I
file my taxes, wages and payment online?
No, you do not have to send in the UI5-E report
if you file the taxes, wages and payment online. The UI5-E is used
as a type of payment coupon where the check can be attached to the
form and mailed into us to be processed.
If you are submitting payment
by check and need a Payment Transmittal Document (UI-5E), please
print a copy of the last page (tax portion) of the Printable Report
and attach your check and mail to: Unemployment Insurance Division,
Contributions Bureau, PO Box 6339, Helena, MT 59604-6339.
Does it take very long to register for WOW?
It does not take very long to have the information on our system
and a response back to you. We prefer to e-mail the confirmation
information as soon as the registration information has been entered
into our system so providing an e-mail address is always helpful
in speeding up the process of registration. We always try to get
everyone registered the day they call or send in a registration form.
Sometimes because of unforeseen circumstances it may be as much as
a day to get this information into the system, but this does not
happen very often. As soon as the confirmation is received, the wages,
taxes and payment can be made.
Can I register Online to use WOW?
We currently do not have online registration available, however the
registration form can be found at http://uid.dli.mt.gov/warp/ui_ach_registration_form.pdf
If I am an accountant, how do I easily register all of my clients?
To register numerous clients at once, please include the UI Account
Number, FEIN, and Business Name in a spreadsheet format that includes
the Transmitter information as well. This transmitter information
would be the UI Account Number (if the company has one), the FEIN
and Business Name along with contact information for the person that
needs to be reached once the clients have been added to the system.
This information can be faxed to 406-444-0629.
How do I print my report and payment information?
To print a report, the report must first be submitted on WOW. If you are on the Quarterly Report Creation screen a link is provided that states Click Here to View a Printable Report. This link is also available on the Quarterly WOW Report History page. You must have Adobe Reader to be able to view this report and print it. The Payment Screens do not have a print option, but can be printed by pushing the Print Screen and printing or saving the screen shot.
If you are submitting payment by check and need
a Payment Transmittal Document (UI-5E), please print a copy of the
last page (tax portion) of the Printable Report and attach your check
and mail to: Unemployment Insurance Division, Contributions Bureau,
PO Box 6339, Helena, MT 59604-6339.
Is my payment taken directly from my bank account when I submit the report? No, the payment is only taken from your account when your company is registered for ACH Debit and after the payment has been Saved in the Add/Modify Payment Screen. When a report is submitted, the payment must then be manually entered and saved before we will debit the account for the amount of the payment due. Every quarter, you should have two confirmation numbers, one for the report submission and one for the payment submission.
Why aren’t my excess wages calculating correctly?
For Excess Wages to calculate correctly in WARP, please enter all the quarterly wages for the entire year if starting after 1st quarter separately. Example: If filing for the 4th quarter 2005, all 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarter 2005 wages must be entered into the Input Employee Wages screen separately by quarter and saved. (Please do not submit the previous quarters already filed with the Department of Labor and Industry.) Then the 4th quarter 2005 wages must be entered into the Input Employee Wages screen and also saved for the excess wages to calculate correctly.
If I didn’t have any employees, how do I file a “No Wages Paid” Report on WOW? Simply proceed to the Create New Quarterly Report option, select the quarter, and Submit and save the report. Since no wages need to be posted and no tax is due, you are done!
