• Step 1 – Create an account and log into (and out of) Okta
• Step 2 – Connect UI eServices for Employers to Okta

Please note: It is very important you complete Step 1 before attempting Step 2. Okta and UI eServices for Employers are two separate systems.  This one-time connection process will allow you to access eServices, using your Okta credentials going forward.  Attempting to connect to eServices before activating an Okta account will result in your inability to access eServices.

If you already use Okta to access other State of Montana services, and know your username and password for it, you can skip directly to Step 2.  If you do not know your username or password for Okta review our Frequently Asked Questions on eServices for what to do.

Step 1 – Okta
Go directly to https://login.mt.gov to set up an Okta account.  Part of the Okta account set up is verifying your email address.  You should receive an email from them within a few minutes of signing up (check your spam or junk files if you don’t see it right away).  You must follow the instructions in the email to complete your Okta account set up. 

Once you are logged fully into Okta, you should see a page of tiles but there will NOT be one for eServices.  Log out of Okta completely and proceed to step 2.

Step 2 – UI eServices for Employers
Once you have an active Okta account, make sure you are logged out of Okta, and go to uieservices.mt.gov

• Click Sign in with Okta,
• Enter your Okta username and password,
• Follow the steps to connect your eServices profile to your Okta account:
  • If you used UI eServices for Employers prior to October 2023, connect your existing eServices profile by entering the username and password you used to access eServices prior to 10/2/23. This is NOT your Okta information, this is the username and password you used to get directly into eServices prior to October 2, 2023.
  • If you have not used UI eServices for Employers in the past, you will be asked a series of security questions regarding your Montana UI Account before gaining access to eServices.  It would be helpful to have the last quarterly UI report filed for your business on hand. 

The above two-step process is a one-time process for accessing eServices after October 2, 2023.  Once your UI eServices for Employers profile is connected to you Okta account, you will simply go uieservices.mt.gov and sign in using your Okta credentials to access UI eServices for Employers.

The Unemployment Insurance Division (UID) hosted several webinars in September 2023, prior to the release of their new integrated UI Tax and Benefits system and the redesign of UI eServices for Employers (eServices).

Please note: Since the release of the eServices redesign, a few things have changed regarding how to access eServices for the first time.
