Changes Coming October 2023

Montana is modernizing its Unemployment Insurance (UI) Systems

  • The Unemployment Insurance Division (UID) will go-live with a new integrated system for Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claims. The Unemployment Center for Claimants will have a new look and several new features. Last Updated 9/13/23
  • October 2, 2023.  The Unemployment Dashboard (currently MontanaWorks) will be unavailable from 5:30pm (mountain time) September 28th thru October 1, 2023.

    All Unemployment Insurance services including MontanaWorks and the Claims Processing Center phone lines will not be available beginning Thursday, September 28, 2023 after 5:00pm.

    All UI Services including filing claims and weekly payment requests, will be available starting Monday, October 2, 2023 by 8:00am in a new Claimant Center at uiclaimant.mt.gov.


    Any claims that are incomplete at the time of system go live will not be transferred to the new system. The claim will need to be resubmitted on or after October 2, 2023.

  • No.  The look and how you navigate through the new UI Claimant Center will look different, but you will still be able to file and receive your unemployment benefits as before. None of our requirements for unemployment eligibility are changing. Last Updated 9/13/23
  • Yes.  The web address will change from montanaworks.gov to uiclaimant.mt.gov, but the State of Montana, will continue to keep both urls active for a time. Your login account will still verify with Okta. This is the State of Montana's continuing effort to move towards having a single sign-on for all state products and services. For existing Okta and UI unemployment users, it will be a simple matter of connecting your Okta account to your existing unemployment logon.  Once that is done, you will access your UI dashboard using your Okta credentials.

  • No. If you already have an OKTA (account verification logon) profile, you will not need to create another account. Last Updated 9/13/23
  • Yes, your account information will be transfered to the new benefits system. Last Updated 9/13/23
  • No, your existing email address will be used to login to OKTA to verify your account and will log you into the new benefit system. Last Updated 9/13/23
